Archived from groups: comp>databases>object (more info?)

db4o announces the release of version 2.9 of the object database
system "db4o - database for objects".
http://www.db4o.com

Some of the new features in this release:
- Hot online backup.
- Tree refresh.
- Access to all meta data and to all stored field values by API, even
if the fields are no longer present in application classes.
- Support for singletons stored to static fields in Client/Server mode.

About db4o:
db4o is an object database system, targetted for high performance
demands on low-ressource systems like embedded devices.

The key assets of db4o...
simplicity - one line of code stores any object
speed - direct pointer access guarantees the maximum performance possible
....make db4o equally suitable for large enterprise applications and for use
behind webservers.

db4o features include ACID transactions, query-by-example, S.O.D.A. object
query API, WeakReference object identity management, and automatic class
schema recognition and adoption. db4o comes as a 230kB Java .jar or as a
230kB .NET .dll.

db4o is available as a Java version for all Java JDKs 1.1.x and above and
as a native C# version for all .NET languages (including VB, ASP.NET,
managed C++) on all .NET platforms including CompactFramework and
mono.

Since embedded low ressource systems clearly are a strategic target for
db4o,
the product has undergone heavy testing on the respective VMs and operating
systems such as:
- IBM J9
- QNX
- Savaje
- SymbianOS

Trial versions are available for download from the .NET website:
