Archived from groups: microsoft>public>sqlserver>olap (more info?)

I have a cube that I am accessing from an Excel 2007 pivot table. It is
performing well and most pivot table manipulations refresh in a couple of
seconds.

The problem I have is that I have defined a reporting action with a target
type of 'Cells' and a target object of 'All Cells' that I want to appear
under Additional Actions when the user right clicks a cell in the Excel Pivot
table. It works but it takes an eternity (up to 30 seconds plus at times)
for the additional options to appear on the Excel menu when I right click and
select Additional Options.

Originally I had a condition attached to the action and I thought this might
be the issue but I tried both with and without it and it makes no difference.
The report has five parameters that it picks up as Member_keys from 3
dimensions.

To confirm my design was okay I also tested from ProClarity desktop and even
with the cell selection condition in place the Action appears on the right
click menu immediately (less than a second). The issue appears to be
related exclusively to Excel 2007.

Anyone seen this behaviour or can give me any guidance what to look for to
try to improve performance as almost all of my user base are using Excel
2007? Thanks for any help

Still struggling with this problem if anyone can help??

I did fnd out something additional during my investigation. If the Pivot
table does not have any Page or Report level filters, the Additional Actions
appear immediately on a Right-click. It is only when I add Report
Level/Page filters to the Pivot Table that the problem occurs. Doesn’t
really help the end user much because virtually every Pivot Table they have
has Page Filters

I thought Excel Services in Sharepoint 2007 was going to p.. - We have Sharepoint 2007 running. My hope was to provide a zero- footprint solution whereby our users, without Excel, could browse and slice and dice a cube.
