Post subject: Documeting Cognos Reportnet solution
Archived from groups: comp>databases>olap (more info?)

Have been trying to find some best practices for documenting a
reportnet based solution. We have recently upgraded to Cognos Reportnet
and intend to rationalise and move over several reports which are
running on impromptu to Reportnet.

The problem I am facing is because of the flexibility offered by
reportnet in terms of creation of query object ( views ), creation
reports both in the fact dimensional style and by simply pulling
columns. the ability to add so many elements to each report etc

How to document and enforce standards for all of this. What would be
the format of a typical Report. What all things should it cover. Is
there a way to extract the info out of the report ? are there any best
practices already available for ReportNet solutions ? Does anyone have
format to document such reports at the design level

Any pointers and help would be appreciated.
