I am working on WinXP Pro & use SQL Server 2005 as the database server.

I want to export a few tables existing in SQL Server 2005 to MS-Access
2000 but I don't find any tool to export the tables. In SQL Server 7.0,
there was an import/export tool (under the 'File' menu, if my memory
serves me right) but I don't find anything similar in SQL Server 2005.

How do I export the SQL Server DB tables to MS-Access?

Hello,

For SQL 2005 use SQL Server Integrated Services . See details in below
URL:-

Thanks
Hari

Thanks, Hari, for the link. I went through the article but strangely,
all the 3 methods by which the Import/Export Wizard can be invoked
aren't available on my server. Neither I have the SQL Server Business
Intelligence Development Studio installed nor any file named
DTSWizard.exe exists where SQL Server 2005 is installed.

Moreover, when I right-click a database & then select the 'Tasks' item,
there isn't any menu item named 'Import Data' & 'Export Data'! The menu
items I find under the 'Tasks' item are 'Detach', 'Shrink', 'Back Up',
'Restore' & 'Generate Scripts'. Even the items 'Take Offline', 'Ship
Transaction Logs', 'Copy Database' aren't listed under the 'Tasks'
item.

Have I missed something while installing SQL Server 2005 in my machine?

Is there anyway by which I can invoke the Import/Export Wizard without
having to re-install SQL Server 2005?

As Hari said, you need Integration Services and Business Intelligentce
Development Studio to do this with graphic tools. However, these do
not come with the Express edition of SQL Server. After all, SQL Express
is fairly cheap...

What you can do is to set up a linked server to your Access database,
and then say things thing:

INSERT ACCESS...tbl(col1, col12, col3)
SELECT col1, col2, col3
FROM tbl

See sp_addlinkedserver in Books Obline on how to set up a linked server.
I believe there are examples with Access. As for the exact notation of
ACCESS...tbl, I don't know if you have fill in something between the dots,
but I know that there should be three of them.
