True story...

One day many years ago when computer rooms had 12inch tape reels everywhere...

Some of our operators got bored and they started playing Ninjas using the tape write-lock rings. Those things were about three inches in diameter and made of a hard rubber, so they made the most perfect non-lethal shirukens.

As the Ninja war raged around the computer room, someone ducked, the write-lock ring sailed harmlessly overhead and impacted the emergency power stop switch with enough force to do what the switch was designed to do.

Oh to have been a fly on the wall when that happened!

Marty

Man, I'd forgotten about write-protect rings! I only used them for
about 15 years... Is this how memory loss starts?

(Or has it started when you begin telling vivid anecdotes about the
Old Days on the Internet?)
