Post subject: HADR between WSE and ESE possible ?
Archived from groups: comp>databases>ibm-db2 (more info?)

Hi all,

for a hardware migration project I would like to implement HADR
between the old and the new system. on the old system runs DB2 9 WSE
on the new system will be DB2 9 ESE both with fixpak 4a. The idea is
to minimize outage for this hardware change by limiting the downtime
for the database (only necessary for activating the HADR DB CFG
values). Will this work ?

TIA
Joachim

If the platforms are compatible for DB2 backup/restore (byte order,
etc.), then I believe this will work as far as the essential operation
is concerned.

I'm not familiar with all the possible differences in enabled features/
license between WSE and ESE, but I would think that going from WSE to
ESE should be ok given the target should be the one with the more
capability.

It probably will work, but probably not supported by IBM if there is a
problem.
