I have SQL server 2005 express verions install and get KB954606
security update failed since Sep/2008.
What should I do for this?
Does it mean that my computer has virus or contorled by someone to
stop me do the update?
Should I uninstall SQL server 2005 express and reinstalled?
Your information is great appreciated, >> Stay informed about: KB954606 security update failed |

I use Windows XP 2005 Media center version and download SQL server
2008 express light version to learn develop web site.
Since September, I got Windows udpate promt all the time and went to
MS Update website which give the KB954606 failed update for SQL server
issue.
I did update SP 3 you mentioned, but I still get same prompt.
I just wonder do I need uninstall SQL server and reinstall it.
I tried to avoid that because it will takes a lot of time to do it.
Thanks again for helping, >> Stay informed about: KB954606 security update failed |

Thanks for the message,
I got follwing when I tried to register ther SQL server 2005 express
Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its
dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is
temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make
sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL: /ProductActivation/ProductActivation.aspx
Does it make sense to do so?
If I need uninstall SQL server, how can I backup my database?

That looks like an error from a broken website. Microsoft are good at
those. Broken web sites, that is.
> If I need uninstall SQL server, how can I backup my database?
Hm, I was under the impression that you believed that you did not need
SQL Server at all? Or are you a different person from the person I
replied to previously?
If you are a different person, I recommend that you start a new thread,
and tell us of your situation and what you need help with, or else the
recommendations may be flat our wrong.

I mean that to backup my databases, but not SQL server.
Because I already has some databases created, I need backup them
before uninstall and re install SQL server.

If you uninstall SQL Server and reinstall, you can reattach the databases,
as the database files are not removed. However, taking a backup of them as
well is a good idea.
To this end, open a DOS prompt and say
SQLCMD -S .\SQLEXPRESS
at the prompt say:
BACKUP DATABASE db TO DISK='C:\backup\db.bak'
When you have entered your commands, enter "go" on a single line to
send the commands to SQL Server.
To restore the databases do the same, but say
RESTORE DATABASE db FROM DISK='C:\backup\db.bak'

Thanks millions for the message,
Does SQL server 2005 have any user interface to do so from SQL server
