This may seem like a bit of stupid question but how do I find out in which
dbspace the logs are on a system I didn't set up?

Thanks

onstat -l. See below for an example:

# onstat -l

IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 10.00.FC8W2 -- On-Line (Prim) -- Up 12
days 16:52:20 -- 46892464 Kbytes

Physical Logging
Buffer bufused bufsize numpages numwrits pages/io
P-1 12 64 16998852 339057 50.14
phybegin physize phypos phyused %used
2:53 511947 306996 106319 20.77
<snip>
address number flags uniqid begin size
used %used
c00000070235ffc0 7 U-B---- 3307 3:53 102399
102399 100.00
<snip>

So the physical log in in dbspace 2 (from 2:53) and the first (and in fact
all subsequent, but I've snipped the remainder of the output) logical logs
are in dbspace 3.

And these are:
onstat -d | more

IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 10.00.FC8W2 -- On-Line (Prim) -- Up 12
