Post subject: [Microsoft][ODBC dBase driver]External Table is not in the Expected Format
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>vb>database>odbc (more info?)

I have 3 computers, 2 of which have Visual Studio 6 SP5 installed as well as
may other apps. The 3rd computer has very few apps other than Apache. I have
a small VB6 app that puts together a special report from a number of dBase
files. I used the Visual Studio Installer 1.1 to generate an install file
(.MSI). The app runs perfectly on the 2 computers with Visual Studio, et al
installed but I get the above error when it runs on the 3rd computer, the
one without Visual Studio or much of anything else.

When Visual Studio Installer builds the install file, I get the 4 following
messages:
"One or more files in xxxxx.MSM have different versions than those installed
on this machine." (xxxxx = MSVBVM60, MDAC, MSVCRT and MSCOMCTL)

In addition, VS Installer shows the following message:
"Neither a merge module nor dependency information could be found for
c:\...\msde.dll"

It looks like either Visual Studio or one of the other apps has installed an
updated version of one or more files.

Does anyone have any idea how to figure out how to get a good installation
file? How can I tell which files have been updated and how to include the
updated files in the installation?

Appreciate any help. Thanx.
