To date my database stuff is with access databases, and I have no real
appreciation with using ODBC.
My VB6 application: Developing code to be run on a Win2000 machine that
needs to read/write certain records in a Foxpro database. However the
application keeps returning ISAM related errors, indicating there is a
connection problem.
Questions:
1. is ODBC loaded and setup with my application installer (as built
from the AppWizard)?
2. or is the user supposed to know how to install ODBC such that
whatever DSN name I provided would work?
3. is there a way to determine (programatically) what DSN or ODBC
whatever is installed (to build an appropriate connection string)?
4. how does one build ODBC & DSN info from code on a target machine?
I have read a bit about and attempted to get DSN-Less connections, but
have yet to get that to work.
Any help using Foxpro databases with Win2000 would be great. I was able
to get the Foxpro data opened with Win98, but the migration to Win2000
has not been without surprises.
Thanks!
Bryan
