Post subject: PDF filename control within Paradox 9
Archived from groups: comp>databases>paradox (more info?)

Had a little search but didn't find the answer.

I have a system running in paradox 9 which we print from often, including
invoices.

In attempt to be more efficient (and maybe save the planet) we want to print
'lots of invoices' to pdf from within our database application. To be
effective, we want to control the pdf name from within Paradox. For example,
if we print an invoice we want the unique invoice number from within paradox
to be the pdf name (e.g INV0001.pdf, INV0002.pdf, etc).

Key system info is Paradox 9 running on WinXP, no central print server.
We are about to try Adobe Acrobat, but are happy to use anything
recommended.

Any help?

(Another question, we could upgrade to a new Paradox version if this would
solve it. Would it?).

Please treat me as an idiot when replying (Maybe I should have said
'non-Paradox expert', but I guess this is a similar meaning)

Thanks team,
Ed.

Ed,

I use PDF995 for generating pdf documents from Paradox. Go to their
website (Google pdf995) and you can buy a copy for $US9.95. Once you
install the license key, you won't get the "nag" screen.

However, you don't mention whether you wrote the application, whether
you're maintaining it or whether you just use it. Do you have the source
code?

Generating a pdf document from Paradox automatically is fairly
straight-forward. But you have to have the source code and you need to
know where to put the code to generate the pdf.

To print to a pdf like you would a report, using the File/Print menu,
you can just select pdf995 as the printer.
