Export the data to Excel.
No. Really.
It's right there in the File Menu. Either Save/Send records
As....Excel, or Export Records and choose the Excel format. Saves
directly into the .xls format.
If you know ahead of time what data you want to summarize and how you
want to sort it, and these factors will not change, then a subsummary
report in FM will do just fine. Consult the online help for definitions.
However, for a real, live pivot table, don't expect a database to be a
spreadsheet. Excel is a piss-poor database. It's an excellent
spreadsheet. FM is an excellent database.
There are ways to publish your data in FM to Excel and keep the
connection live so that when you update the FM the charts and/or
spreadsheets in Excel change. XML exports also let you format your
Excel document. I've never done these but I've seen it done. Once
again, the Help is your friend.
