Post subject: SQL 2005 Cluster on Windows 2008 Datacenter
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>sqlserver>clustering (more info?)

I am currently working to get a test cluster online using Windows 2008
Datacenter x64 with SQL2005 Enterprise x64. Although the 2008 cluster
is up and reports that it is running fine and shared storage is
attached and online, SQL setup does not give me the option to create a
failover cluster (the checkbox is greyed out).

Does anyone know if 64-bit SQL2005 clusters are supported on Windiows
2008 DC 64bit?

I am using the RTM version of Windows2008 from my MSDN subscription,
btw.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or Microsoft
Windows Vista

Joshua,

Keep in mind that Windows Server 2008 is not officially released nor
supported, therefore, it is challenging to find information on this subject.

Actually, the 64bit versions have been officially released for MSDN
subscribers (as well as Open License customers).

That said, yes, information is still horribly sparse. What I could
find indicated that it should work, but I was unable to get the SQL
installer to identify that it was being installed on a cluster. I
ended up giving up on 2008 for now and rolling back to 2003.

That is true...RTM'd a few days ago. I assuming that you were still using
Beta.
