Hi there,

I'm using Windows Vista x64 Business SP1 with SQL Server 2005 x64 SP2 Dev.
Edition
Also I have VS 2005 and VW 2008 Express

My question is

Can I install SQL 2008 Express or SQL 2008 Developer on the same computer?

I know that 2000 and 2005 you can't

Thanks,
Oded Dror

You should be able to, each time you install you just specify a new instance
name.

> I know that 2000 and 2005 you can't

If 2000 is installed first, yes you can - you just install 2005 as a new
instance.

You can install SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008 instances side by side.
However, you always better install the older versions before the newer ones.

You also can install different editions side by side of the same or
different version of SQL Server according to the SQL Server Instance' s
system requirements' OS requirements..

Hi,
Could you please help me with this, I had SQL Server 2000, 2005 installed and worked well.
Then I need to install SQL Server 2008.
And I kept getting error message (before I got to the point to create different instance name) such as:

MsiGetProductInfo failed to retrieve ProductVersion for package with Product Code = '{1A528690-6A2D-4BC5-B143-8C4AE8D19D96}'. Error code: 1605..

And I followed the instruction from another Google help to delete these keys from the regedit:
1A528690-6A2D-4BC5-B143-8C4AE8D19D96
however the problem still exists.

Thanks a lot in advance.

So this error occurred before you completed the wizard?

NET HELPMSG 1605 => "This action is only valid for products that are
currently installed."

Not that I have any idea of what is going on, but in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap there are logs
from all your attempts. Not that they are easy to understand, but at least
that's a start.
