SQL Server 2008 Express Management Studio won't launch

OK , this is my second time posting this as I did not get one response
previously. Does anyone
at microsoft monitor this group?

I installed SQL Server Express 2008 Express with Advanced Services
about two weeks ago.
Recently I attempted to install Visual Studio 2008 Professional but
the install failed. I decided that
life was too short and I'd uninstall VS 2008 and just keep using VS
2005. For some reason I find that
I now cannot get SQL Server 2008 Express Management Studio to run
(might the failed VS 2008 install somehow corrupted it?). When I click
on it, my mousepointer changes to an hourglass for what seems like 1
or 2 seconds than reverts to normal. The application never starts. I
thought I'd try to repair it, but that fails, because the damn
installer complains about missing files. For the same reason I can't
uninstall it either.

HELP!!!!
