Post subject: Tran repl performance problem following an upgrade to 2005
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>sqlserver>replication (more info?)

Hi,

We are facing the following performance problem following an upgrade from
sql server 2000 to sql server 2005 sp2 build 3228 (CU6) ENT

Transactional replication 1 way

from

Publisher located at UK

to

Subscriber located at NY

Subscriber located at NJ

Subscriber located at JP

Subscriber located at SNG

Subscriber located at IND

Before the upgrade the subs at NY & NJ had a latency of 10 to 20 sec. I am
not referring to the other subs in the far east because those lines always
had a greater latency. Since we moved to 2005 the latency had grown to
unacceptable delay of minutes

I have droped and created the publicatin and it's subs

The Log-Reader reads the trans OK but the commands are not being ditributed
fast enough from the distrib db to the subs

No errors in Msrepl_errors

No resource problem on the servers

I have checked the net througly and there is no bandwith problem

Any idea would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Yaniv

Has your retention period altered ie increased, if so then try reducing it
and see if that helps. Also, do you have anonymous subscribers set up? In
both cases what I'm interested in is the size of the msrepl_commands table
and to see if this is relevant. If at all possible compare the SQL 2000 and
2005 rowcounts of this table.
