True DBGrid Pro 8 Visual Basic Dropdown drop down no data ..

I'm using VB 6 SP5 and True DBGrid Pro 7.0 and True DBDropDown Pro
7.0. I'm using two ado controls, one grid, and one dropdown. The
grid populates with data ok using one ado control. The second ado
control has the same dsn, datasource, etc as ado control one. The
dropdown uses the second ado control. The dropdown arrow appears on
the grid when the column is selected. But no data appears. The
dropdown doesn't drop. I've viewed the samples and tutorials for
examples of using the datagrid and dropdown.
I can't find any difference between the properties set in the samples
and my program. Is there some property that should be set that isn't?
I'm setting the appropriate datafield and datalist fields? Since
this is a test project to evaluate true dbgrid for purchase, I can
provide my project for review?
