try typing nscontrol enable
this gives you the syntax which allows you to enable
individual components like generator, distributor etc.
its something like this
nscontrol enable -<name of component> -name
<instancename>....blah
Also check your event viewer to see if your ns performance
counters are corrupt...this usually represents itself
witha whole pile of messages. let me know after uve done
the above steps and we can take it from there.
