Post subject: Varying component versions in BIDS
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>sqlserver>setup (more info?)

Hello,

I have SQL 2K5 (x64) SP2 Cumulative Update 8 installed on a box, including
SSIS and BIDS. I've been running into issues with using the ForEach Loop
Container in BIDS. I get an error when trying to open the dialog box for
setting expressions for the loop.

After a number of days fishing around and learning where version info can be
found, I finally figured out that the Integration Services Designers of BIDS
is still version 3042 while the Analysis Services and Reporting Services
designers are version 3257. It's almost as if the Cumulative Update 8 patch
was never applied for the Integration Services designers.

The server was given to me with Windows 2003 Server Enterprise x64 Edition
already installed. I installed the x64 version of SQL Server 2005 Standard
Edition and then installed x64 version of SP2 . At some point I installed the
x64 version of Cumulative Update 8 and after that, it seems that BIDS doesn't
work well with assigning expressions to the ForEach Loop Container.

I even tried running that regsrv trick that is suggested because of the
32-bit dlls being unregistered.

Still, I think it has something to do with the Integration Services
designers being of the wrong build number. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!
