I've searched everywhere and asked everyone I know that know anything about
SQL and I cannot get an answer to this question...

I frequently need to install SQL 2005 to install the app I support and
anytime I come across a box that has BackupExec or anything else that
installs SQL Express for it's own use I cannot get the Management Studio to
install. The only thing that works is to remove the SQL Express, install
the full SQL and then reinstall the SQL Express. The IT folks I come across
always seem to want to cut my nuts off for requesting this and usually for
good reason. I've tried SKUUPGRADE=1 and that doesn't do it either.

SSMS and SSMSE does not work together.

SKUUPGRADE is used to install an older version of a SQL Server component
when a newer version is already installed on the same OS.
