I have a very weird problem.

I log into a SQL Server 2005 remote server using SSMS. I navigate to a
database that I have access to and expand down to a particular table.
When I click on 'Open Table' in the context menu
associated with the table I get the following error -- "Object
reference not set to an instance of an object." However if create a
query window against the database I can run a select and see the
contents of the table.

I also notice that when running Visual Studio 2005 that I am having
issues with creating datasets that may be related. I create the
dataset then attempt to add a new tableadapter, after entering my
select statement for my tableadapter I get the following message
'Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a COM component.

Thanks

Hi all,

Turns out it was a corrupted profile in Vista (the machine had been
migrated from XP to Vista).

Man, that was a weird one to run down !!!

Thanks
